# Upgrade to Build 1.6

Preserve your projects and configuration before updating. Download Build 1.6.0 from your portal library, verify its SHA-256 and extract it separately. Read docs/UPGRADE-1.6.md in the package.

## Back up first

Finish active builds and stop the server. Keep the old source ZIP and installation, .wrangler state, .build-local data, custom source, private environment files and encryption/signing keys. For hosted installs, back up D1 and record the current Worker version and rollback procedure.

## Local Personal installation

Merge the new source and locked dependencies into a staged copy, preserving private configuration and data. Then run:

```sh
node scripts/install.mjs --profile personal --yes --no-start --json
bun run doctor -- --json
bun run dev:local
```

The installer applies pending local migrations. The package version should report 1.6.0.

## Hosted or Agency installation

Keep your existing Clerk application, Cloudflare resources and private settings. Follow docs/RELEASE.md and review the deployment plan for your existing install. Apply all pending migrations before matching server/frontend code. New migrations include 0015 brand kits, 0016 client reviews and 0017 revision tracking. Earlier releases also need previous pending migrations. A local installer does not migrate your hosted database.

## Verify before resuming work

Open and export an existing project. On a test project, run the Ready checks and verify form storage. Create a review, leave guest feedback, track it in the revision inbox, link a fix to a newer saved version, compare the versions, and confirm request approval from that review page. Test revoked-link access. Agency operators should also repeat two-account handoff checks.

Guest reviews show isolated read-only snapshots, with no live app data or connected services. Local review URLs only work on the current computer; remote clients need your hosted Build URL. No review notifications are sent automatically.

If a check fails, preserve the state and use your documented backup/rollback plan. Do not drop tables or reset your database to troubleshoot an upgrade.
